Solveig Aasen is in 2013 completing her PhD in philosophy at University College London (UCL). In 2012-2013, she was awarded a Jacobsen Studentship from the Royal Institute of Philosophy in London. She received her MPhil from UCL in 2010 and her BA from the University of Oslo in 2008.
Solveig’s research is mainly in the philosophy of language and the philosophy of mind. Her work centres on the phenomenon of reference in language and thought, and she focusses particularly on singular thought’s dependence on perceptual experience, and the possibility of there being illusions of singular thought. In addition, Solveig is interested in aesthetics and works on pictorial representation.
