Linguistic behaviour is a domain of investigation where the empirical study of agency and the study and articulation of the norms that govern linguistic communication has greatly advanced in the past thirty years.Linguists and philosophers have developed elaborate normative structures of various types to describe the mechanisms underlying linguistic behaviour.
