In order to be admitted to the PhD programme you either apply for a research fellowship or for admission with external funding.

Applying for a research fellowship at the Faculty of Humanities

To apply for a research fellowship at the Faculty of Humanities, one or several vacant posts must have been advertised by the Faculty of Humanities.

Research fellowships connected to an academic subject/field, project or unit are advertised by the relevant department or centre and have different application deadlines.

Applying for admission to the PhD programme with external funding

If you have funding and are part of a relevant research community, you can apply for admission to the PhD programme with external funding.

External funding includes

  • research fellowship at a university college/other university,
  • other employment in a research institution with time allocated to research, or
  • study grant from your home university, the Quota Scheme or other funding schemes.

Admission with external funding assumes that the applicant is affiliated with a relevant and active research community.
