Guest lecture by Professor James E. Young

Professor Young will give the lecture “The Stages of Memory: Reflections on Memorial Art, Loss, and the Spaces Between”, marking the presentation of The Government White Paper on the Humanities.

Professor James E. Young is Distinguished University Professor, and director of the Institute for Holocaust, Genocide, and Memory Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Vice-Dean for Research at The Faculty of Humanities, Ellen Rees, will introduce Professor James E. Young. He visits UiO and the faculty for the presentation of the Government White Paper on Humanities which will be presented on Wednesday March 22nd.

It will be possible to ask questions and present comments after the lecture. The lecture is free and open for all.

About the lecture

This lecture will be "A deep dive on the conceptual, political, and formal questions underpinning the memorial competitions in New York (9/11 Memorial) and Berlin (Denkmal)".
