Guri Haug Bordal

The project focuses on prosodic caracteristics of the variety of French spoken in the Central African Republic. The aim of the project is to obtain a deeper understanding of the prosodic outcome of language contact as well as to confront current theories of prosodic phonology to spontanous speech and multilingualism. 12 Central African informants whose first language is Sango, an African tone language, are recorded and two hours of spontanous speech is transcribed and analysed by the means of acoustic analysis and perception tests. The data are described in an Autosegmental framework.
