Research topic: Contemporary history
Contemporary history relates to the most recent history. This is usually limited to the period for which we have verbal sources in addition to the written.
In contemporary history, all topics from our recent past can be taken up, but the focus is often on major changes in social development in general and on the political history in particular.
Examples of central research areas in contemporary history in Norway are the study of the country in an international perspective, with special emphasis on development and change in the political culture. How have Norway and Norwegian politicians been influenced from outside? Which changes are the result of internal processes? How has Norway wished to influence international society.
