Dialogues with the Past
Nordic Graduate School in Archaeology
Nordic archaeology has a long tradition of scholarly co-operation. A result of this is the Nordic Graduate School. The school includes archaeology departments from all the Nordic countries as well as from Estonia and St. Petersburg, altogether nineteen different institutions.
The aim of the school is to reinforce the national doctoral programmes in archaeology and to transform the character of Nordic archaeology in various ways:
1) To develop theoretical and methodological approaches across disciplinary boundaries. 2) To develop co-operation between the Nordic countries in the midst of rapidly growing globalisation. 3) To develop international co-operation. 4) To support the various national and local doctoral programmes by creating larger scholarly environments and broader networks between the departments.
