My research is in the intersection of the philosophy of logic and the philosophy of language. I have done work on understanding the relationship between our language and the world it represents, on clarifying certain connections between logic and mathematics, and on investigating the limits of communicable thought.
I received my PhD from MIT in 2001, after which I spent four years as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of St Andrews and one as an assistant professor at the University of California, San Diego. I returned to MIT in 2005, and have been a faculty member there ever since.
