International collaborative projects and networks

The Department of Culture Studies and Oriental Languages (IKOS) collaborates with a number of institutions in Asia, Europe and USA on research. Many of our employees are members of international research networks.

Strategic partnerships:

The department has established strategic partnerships with many international institutions. Areas of collaboration include research, researcher exchanges, joint publications and research projects with participants from several institutions.
• IKOS has entered into a partnership with Linköping University and the University of Leicester concerning the establishment and running of the EU project European national museums: Identity politics, the uses of the past and the European citizen (Eunamus).
• Texas University (Austin) through the project Denial of Ritual
• IKOS has a strategic cooperation with Heidelberg University on developing and running the Hindi Database Project. The goal is to develop a sophisticated research tool and build up an electronic information resource for written Hindi. Professor Claus Petter Zoller is in charge of the work on this database project at IKOS
• The Chinese–Nordic Cultural Centre at Nanjing University

An example of research projects with international collaboration partners:

European national museums: Identity politics, the uses of the past and the European citizen (Eunamus).
Through the EU-funded research project Eunamus, IKOS has partnerships with the following institutions:

• Department of Art and Archaeology, Université Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne
• Research Centre of Culture and Communication, University of Tartu

• Department of History, Central European University (Kozep-Europai Egyetem)

Research networks

The department is a member of binding networks with academic institutions around the world: Linköping University, the University of Leicester, Nanjing University, the University of Texas (Austin), Heidelberg University, the Jutland Manor House Museum, Göteborg City Museum, Larvik Museum, and Tibet University, to name but a few.
