Saphinaz Amal Naguib
Academic Interests
The main fields of research are Ancient Egyptian religion and material culture, Coptic and Copto-Arabic hagiographies, Islamic studies, heritage and museum studies. Other research interests include international migration and ethnic relations. My current research projects investigate the meaning of heritage and the role of museums of cultural history in plural societies. Main themes of inquiry are:

1991-1994: Post-doctoral research fellow, University of Oslo, Department of Culture Studies. Research project: The Martyr as Witness. Coptic and Copto-Arabic oral and written traditions and the transmission of texts as mediators of religious memory.

1980-1983: Research fellow, The Norwegian Research Council, Ethnographic Museum of the University of Oslo, within the international research project Corpus Antiquitatum Aegyptiaca¬rum. Two volumes from the Ethnographic Museum Funerary Statuettes and Predynastic Pottery have been published.
