Modern Norwegians in Bohuslän
The prosject explores cultural encounters in the border area between Norway and Sweden
About the project
The project deals with the very substantial Norwegian expansion within trade and tourism that has taken place from the early 1990s and up until the present. This has come about almost one hundred years after the dissolution of the Union between Sweden and Norway in 1905, the anniversary of which was marked and celebrated in both countries in the course of 2005. Central perspectives are harmony and conflicts.
Objectives
The project is going to analyze the specific cultural encounters that occur in relation to national borders and from a process perspective over time.
Cooperation
The project is part of the research network Cultures of Borderlands within the Society International of Ethnology and Folklore (SIEF).
