Material Culture and the Materiality of Culture (completed)

The project deals with material aspects of culture from different disciplines and perspectives.

About the project

The project allows a dialog of researchers from different academic disciplines about very diverse empirical themes, but with much in common on an overall plan. Some of the disciplines have a long tradition of studying the material aspects of culture, some have done so only periodically, others have hardly made it, and some have defined their object of study as belonging to the non-material sphere of culture.

Several authors also represent area studies belonging to more traditional academic areas, including philology and linguistics. Although studies of material culture in recent decades have been subject to increased interest, it is rare that so many professional voices are trying to sing in unison.

Objectives

The project will result in an anthology including different studies on material culture seen as a potential meeting place for all the disciplines of the humanities and the social sciences.
