The research group in African linguistics at the Department of Linguistics and Scandinavian studies consists of both senior researchers, PhD-fellows and postdocs,  together with students.

What do we do?

The research group members work on different aspects of language in Africa. We have particular research interests in Ethiopia, Cameroon, Mali, Mozambique, South-Africa and Zimbabwe.

The research field

African language matters is a wide-ranging research field that covers anything from linguistic description and analysis of particular languages to complex sociolinguistic studies both in Africa and among Africans in diaspora all over the world.
