Prof. Andrew Nevins from UCL is a linguist who has worked on a wide range of topics, but primarily focused on phonology and morphology. He is coming to UiO to give a talk on sign language phonology, more specifically related to his field work on the quite recently evolved home sign of the Maxakalí community in Brazil.

Prof. Andrew Nevins er ansatt ved University College London. Han har forsket på fonologi og morfologi, og skal presentere noe av sin forskning på tegnspråksfonologi. Han har jobbet med tegnspråkbrukere i blant Maxakalí-folket i Brazil, som bruker såkalt “home sign” – en tegnspråkpidgin – med et begrenset utvalg av gester. (Presentasjon og sammendrag på engelsk)

The seminar in interactional linguistics, arranged by associate professor Marja Etelämäki, will consist of six meetings in which we will focus on different themes within interactional linguistics. We will decide on the themes together in the first meeting. Before the first meeting, you will get a bibliography where you can choose topics that come close to your own research. The first seminar will be 16 November.

Litterært og språkvitenskapelig instituttseminar byr denne gang på et felles arrangement, med to foredrag innafor feltet retorikk. Kristin Torjesen Marti og Ida Seljeseth, begge stipendiater ved ILN, står for presentasjonene, og det skal handle om både demokrati, rettssikkerhet og klimaendringer!

 

Fredagens seminar er et pionérprosjekt, der de to instituttseminarene går sammen om et arrangement, og vi håper at mange finner vegen! Arrangementet er åpent for alle.
