Travel Information

 

There are three airports within fairly easy reach of Oslo: Gardermoen, Rygge, and Torp. Gardermoen is Oslo's main airport and is the recommended and most convenient choice.


Oslo Airport Gardermoen (OSL)

This is the recommended and most convenient choice.

How to get from Oslo Airport Gardermoen to Oslo city centre:

Oslo's main airport is located 50 km north of Oslo with easy access to the city centre on the Airport Express Train (19 minutes) or Airport Express Coach (43 minutes). The train arrives at Oslo Central Station and the coach at Oslo Bus Terminal, both within walking distance from the conference hotel.

  • Airport Express Train: Runs 4-6 times an hour, takes 19 minutes, costs NOK 170 for a one way ticket (no special deal for return ticket).
  • Airport Express Coach (#344, bay E17): Runs 3 times an hour, takes 43 minutes, costs NOK 140 for a one way ticket and NOK 240 for a return ticket.

Moss Airport Rygge (RSL) (for Ryanair flights)

How to get from Moss Airport Rygge to Oslo city centre:

Moss Airport (Oslo/Rygge) is located 66 km south-east of Oslo. There is an Airport Express Coach bound for Oslo that leaves 40 minutes after every arrival (60 minutes). There is also a train service, including a free shuttle bus to and from Rygge Station (57 minutes).

  • NSB train: Departures every 2 hours, takes 57 minutes (including the shuttle bus), costs NOK 139 for a one way ticket.
  • Rygge Express Coach: Runs 40 minutes after every arrival, takes 60 minutes from Rygge Airport to Oslo Bus Terminal, costs NOK 130 for a one way ticket and NOK 230 (NOK 190 for students) for a return ticket .

Sandefjord Airport Torp (TRF) (for Ryanair flights)

How to get from Sandefjord Airport Torp to Oslo city centre:

Sandefjord Airport (Oslo/Torp) is located 110 km south-west of Oslo. There is an Airport Express Coach bound for Oslo that corresponds with all Ryanair or Wizz Air flights (1 hour 50 minutes). There is also a train service, including a free shuttle bus to and from Sandefjord Station (1 hour 48 minutes).

  • NSB Train: Runs every hour, takes 1 hour and 48 minutes from Sandefjord Airport to Oslo Central Station, costs NOK 224 for a one way ticket.
  • Torp Express Coach: Runs 30 minutes after all Ryanair or Wizz Air arrivals, takes 1 hour and 50 minutes from Sandefjord Airport to Oslo Bus Terminal, costs NOK 180 for a one way ticket and NOK 300 (NOK 280 for students) for a return ticket.

Local transport in Oslo

The conference hotel is within very easy walking distance of the Oslo central station as well as the bus terminal. Information about local transport services can be found at http://trafikanten.no/en/.

 


Getting to the opening plenary and the reception on Wednesday 1 June

The opening plenary by David Crystal  will take place in the Old Ceremonial Theatre at the city centre campus of the University of Oslo at 5 p.m(address: Karl Johans gate 47). There is a reception at Oslo City Hall at 6.30 p.m. Both venues are within walking distance from the conference hotel; see map below. Please consult the third circular for further details.
