Research topic: Media use among children and adolescents

Research on media use among children and youth involves both the patterns itself - what media they use, where, when and why - but also whether the media's place in their lives for better or worse.

Research in this area includes research on media influence, risks of using various media, children and young people's right to participation, expression and information, the relationship between parents and children (parental mediation), setting limits by parents, schools, institutions and society in general, and research on myths and beliefs about children, media and harmfulness.

The ways children are portraited and presented in the the media and in the popular culture, belong also to this research area.
