Research topic: Mobile media

Most people use mobile phones or tablets many times every day. We access various websites, use streaming services, take pictures and post messages on social media.

GPS recipients, gyroscope and other sensors which measure what we are doing, are then used in new "location-based" services like for instance 'augmented reality'.

The research on mobile media attempts to answer in which way these new media are different from the mainstreiam, traditional media and how they characterize our ever changing daily life.

As an example of the ongoing research at the Department, one can mention a project named "Clouds and Concerts" which, among other, studies how music is streamed to the mobile medium.

The results have also been used to develop new services in several projects at the Department.
