The Norwegian Collection of Folk Music
The main objective of the Norwegian Collection of Folk Music is the documentation of traditional music in Norway. The large majority of our materials are sound recordings collected in fieldwork. Based on these materials we do research, publish books and records and teach at the department of musicology. The Norwegian Collection of Folk Music also teach and supervise students at the Department of Musicology in norwegian folk music and ethnomusic.
The Sound Archive
The Sound Archive contains some 45000 recordings, equaling some 2000 hours of recorded sound. Most of it is music, but we also have a considerable number of interviews connected to the music. Most of the music is from the oldest Norwegian folk music genres, but there is also a lot of the newer repertoire.
