Research

My research takes a musicological approach to the study of record production, including the technological and aesthetic affordances of music production technologies. I am currently a postdoctoral researcher in  the research project "The Platformization of Music Production” (PLATFORM)—funded by the Research Council of Norway (grant no. 324344)—which is concerned with the development and use of music production technology. Through interviews with developers of digital music production technology, as well as studies of their interfaces and online marketing, I investigate how companies like Ableton, Apple, Avid, Cubase and Bitwig set the premises for how popular music practice take shape.
