Popular Music Seminar

The reasearch project Popular Music & Gender in a Transcultural Context is hosting a seminar with Robert Walser, Keith Negus and Mats Johansson, led by Stan Hawkins.

The research project Popular Music & Gender in a Transcultural Context will host a half day seminar with guest lectures by international researchers on popular music, Keith Negus, Professor of Musicology at Goldsmiths, University of London and Robert Walser, Professor of Musicology at the Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. A lecture will also be given by postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Musicology, UiO, Mats Johansson. The event will be led by Professor Stan Hawkins.

Keith Negus:  Popstars, paupers and Pro-Ams: Musicians and money in the digital music economy.

Mats Johansson: The Gendered Fiddle: On the relationship between expressive coding and artistic identity in Norwegian folk music.

Robert Walser: Rock's Gendered Musical Spaces

Time and place: Tuesday May 22, 13.15 - 16.00. Auditorium 3, Helga Engs hus.
