Hawkins' work on "Judas" in new book on Lady Gaga

New book in Routledge Studies in Popular Music: Lady Gaga & Popular Music: Performing Gender, Fashion, and Culture

Stan Hawkins' "'I'll bring you down, down, down': Lady Gaga's performance in 'Judas'" serves as the first chapter in a new book entitled Lady Gaga and Popular Music: Performing Gender, Fashion, and Culture. This new and exciting anthology offers a multi-faceted, interdisciplinary examination of pop star Lady Gaga, featuring analysis by scholars in Cultural Studies, Art Studies, Fashion Studies, Musicology, and Popular Music Studies. In his chapter, Hawkins looks and listens closely to "Judas," one of the biggest pop hits of 2011, explores the production and performance of this tune, and pays particular attention to Gaga's playful reinvention of herself as an artist.
