Stan Hawkins and Birgitte Sandve presents at IASPM conference
Professor Stan Hawkins and phd student Birgitte Sandve are both participating at the conference Popular Music and the Nordic Region in Global Dynamics.
Phd student Birgitte Sandve and project leader Stan Hawkins are presenting papers at the IASPM conference 2012.
The biannual conference of the nordic branch of IASPM, the International Association for the Study of Popular Music, takes place in Roskilde, Denmark, on the 29th and 30th of November. Stan Hawkins has been invited to be keynote speaker, and will present the paper Terror, Masculinity, and Music: Implications for the Nordic Identity. Keynote speaker on the conference's second day is the aknowledged sociologist and popular music researcher Simon Frith (the University of Edinburgh). Also phd student Birgitte Sandve will participate at the conference with the paper Unwrapping Norwegianness: politics of difference in Norwegian-language rap group Karpe Diem.
