Britpop and the English Music Tradition

Stan Hawkins is one of the scholars contributing to this new international anthology of essays edited by Andy Bennett and Jon Stratton, with a chapter called 'Unsettling Differences: Music and Laddism in Britpop' (Chapter 9).

This is the first study devoted exclusively to the Britpop phenomenon and its contexts, and Hawkins' chapter deals with an analysis of vocal performance alongside the normative rules of gendered practice. Read more about the publication.
