We would hereby like to invite contributions to the conference, Adornment as expression of everyday identity in ancient and medieval life. Papers should be 25 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of discussion. The conference language is English. The conference will take place at the Norwegian Institute in Rome, September 12-13, 2019. Submissions deadline July 15th.
The Centre for Advanced Study in Oslo and the Department of Archaeology, Conservation and History at UiO will host a two-day conference on the practices and behaviours related to peacemaking and the restraint of violence in high medieval Europe.
Between runes and manuscripts there were the Roman-alphabet inscriptions. This is the first comprehensive study of these inscriptions and the role they played in the Norwegian Viking and Middle Ages.
