Paul Rækstad is, in 2015, completing a PhD in philosophy at the University of Cambridge. He received his BA in philosophy from King's College London in 2009 and his MA in philosophy from the University of Oslo in 2011.
Paul's research focuses on the intersection between methodological debates in political theory (especially around realist and comparative approaches), conceptions of human development and flourishing, with associated notions of freedom and democracy, criticisms of contemporary states and capitalism, and conceptions of their alternatives. He has particular interests in the work of Adam Smith and Karl Marx, as well as in the philosophical import and relevance of the New Democracy Movement (occupy, etc.).
