History of Christianity
I am an art historian and medievalist graduated from the University of Oslo (2002). I am also a biographer and non-fiction author in the field of cultural history and cultural heritage, and Professor of Medieval Studies at MF Norwegian School of Theology, Religion and Society.
My primary field of research is images and their devotional use in pre- and early modern cultures. I have published books and articles on visual rhetoric and intellectual culture in medieval Italy and Scandinavia, on the conception of death in early Protestant Denmark-Norway, and on the reception of Jerusalem in medieval Scandinavia.
