We address questions regarding fact and value, knowledge and expertise, and individual and society as they arise at the intersection of the humanities and the life sciences.
Applications and methodology
We investigate fundamental questions about the basis and the structure of biological processes, and how they are related to the emergence of the human mind, as well as to human societies.
Our research concerns how mental capacities are shaped between biological processes and the societal setting. We investigate the feedback between culture, mind and body and their biological roots.
Collaboration with UiO:Life Science
Through our collaboration with UiO:Life Science we also integrate humanistic viewpoints directly in life science research. We aim to better understand key scientific representations, explanations, models, and analyses, as well as offering perspectives on the opportunities and risks of life science research for the environment, public health, and the general development of society.
