Heritage, time and memory
Heritage is always an ongoing process. Different traditions, narratives, objects, landscapes and places influence interests, understandings, and value perspectives in contemporary and past societies.
We will investigate the use of heritage in the past and how heritage can communicate across many of modernity's cultural binaries, e.g. nature/culture, past/present, matter/mind. Heritage is in this way a ‘diplomacy’ that is of great significance for an understanding of and reacting to contemporary global challenges.
