Academic interests

My research interests broadly include: archaeology and heritage, geovisualisation and applications of GIS and remote sensing in archaeological landscapes.

PhD project

My PhD research will examine the social, economic and political organization of the Late Iron Age farmers in southern African (between the Witwatersrand ridge and the Vaal River) before the arrival of the first Europeans in southern Africa. My research will combine Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and statistical techniques to examine the spatial relationships between ruins (such as stone-wallings and ash middens) and their surroundings, as well as the wider landscape.
