‘The Epistolary Practices of Norwegian Emigrants and the Emergence of a Transatlantic Public Sphere, ca. 1835–1870’
My dissertation explores the transatlantic dimension of popular participation in the written public sphere and I have been affiliated with the UiO:Nordic research project ‘The Public Sphere and Freedom of Expression in the Nordic Countries, 1815–1900’.
Research interests
American and Norwegian nineteenth century history, social history, history of writing, belonging and perceptions of identity, and the philosophy of history.
