Academic interests

My main research interests are contemporary French international relations, transatlantic collaboration and competition, and State power within a globalized transnational context. My current research project within the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions aims to study the role of French women’s sartorial fashion in France’s international relations with a focus on both its interaction with the European Economic Community (EEC) and its influence on the American mass market during the 1960s and 1970s. This approach is meant to open up the fields of Fashion History and International Relations History to each other. This will be done through the analysis of the influence of women’s sartorial fashion on the American mass market as well as within the context of the EEC through the prism of the French authorities (industrial, governmental and diplomatic).

I am currently co-editing a volume as part of the Routledge Histories book series with Professor Véronique Isabelle Claire Pouillard titled The Routledge History of Fashion and Dress, 1800 to the Present. This volume aims to present the development of research in fashion and dress history. The time span covered by the book will start around 1800, with the aftermath of the consumers’ revolution and the end of the ancien régime, and reach all the way to the present. The fashion and garment industries have been international from the beginning. This volume will approach the history of fashion and dress as an international and, whenever relevant, a global history.
