CANCELLED! A forest of feelings: Become a poet in 10 minutes
This event has been cancelled to prevent spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). Welcome to a talk with the Hindi poet, cinema lyricist and storyteller Deepak Ramola.
Those looking for peace found poetry; those looking for poetry found peace. Deepak Ramola writes love poems without ever using that word or its synonyms. His technique finds its ground in stories of people he has met across the world.
In the session he will explore the power of weaving narratives that touch upon volatile themes of identity, religion, partition, gender and self-bullying into the expression of poetry. From blank verse to amalgamating music into his lyrics, Deepak passes on his methodology and inspires people to craft their own poems within 10 minutes.
Poetry often chooses not to be narrative, especially when told in relation to music and new-age media. This talk brings together the experiences of the poetic art to consdier harsh questions with genuine simplicity. When and how might we want poetry to serve people as a tool when they want to tell something, and when and how might we want it to be a good listener of what is being spoken?
