Israel's Islamists: Between Theocracy, Ethnocracy and Democracy

A seminar with Tilde Rosmer, University of Oslo

The supporters of the Islamic Movement in Israel were inspired by the Arab Spring and provoked by the recent removal  of the Muslim Brotherhood-led government in Egypt.  In the midst of dramatic political developments in the Middle East, the Islamic Movement in the Jewish state continues its struggle to represent the rights and interests of Muslim Palestinian citizens of Israel. This lecture explains the Islamic Movement in Israel's strategies for survival in turbulent times and explores the aspirations of the younger generation of Islamists in Israel.

From 12.30 to 13.00 coffee/tea and light snacks will be served.
