Syria: On the road to democracy or destruction?
A seminar with Frida Nome and Kai Kverme
The uprising against the Asad regime is entering its second year these days, and while Asad is still in power, the destruction and violence is reaching unprecedented levels. This seminar will focus on two aspects of the uprising which have not received much attention; the role of sectarianism and the uprising's impact on Lebanon.
Frida Nome is a researcher on Middle Eastern affairs and is currently writing her PhD at the Norwegian School of Theology, focusing on religious aspects of the uprising in Syria.
Kai Kverme is a project coordinator and a researcher on the Middle East at The Center for Islamic and Middle East studies at the University of Oslo.
