Election winter 23/24

This winter election is held in the constituency temporary academic staff.

Number of candidates to be elected : 1 representative and 2 deputy representatives.

General information about elections

Who can propose candidates?

Anyone who has the right to vote at the election can put forward a proposal for any eligible person within their own voting rights group. All fixed-salaried employees in at least half-time positions, as well as professors II, have the right to vote cf. UiO's election regulations.

Nominations must be sent to valgstyre@iln.uio.no and be signed by at least the same number as the number of candidates nominated. A copy to the nominators of the nomination email is accepted as signature.

How often are elections held?

Within the groups permanent Scientific Staff and Technical-Administrative Staff, the staff elect their representatives every four years.

Representatives for Fixed-term Staff and for students are elected each year.

An external representative is appointed every four years by the faculty board following a proposal from the department board.

Who has the right to vote?

According to UiO's election regulations, employees in at least half a position at the units that carry out elections, as well as professor II's, have the right to vote. Decisive for voting rights is the employment relationship on the day the person votes. You can vote for people within your own voting rights group.

Students must be registered for the semester to have the right to vote. The right to vote applies at the department/faculty in which they are registered, at elections to the university board and at elections of the rector/vice-rector. If a student is registered at more than one institute/faculty, the student himself decides where he should have the right to vote.

The election period for the Department Board is 4 years for the permanent academic staff and the technical and administrative staff. For the students and temporary academic staff the election period is 1 year.
