New publication about languages in Ethiopia

The project Linguistic Capacity Building – Tools for the inclusive development of Ethiopia have published the book Linguistic Challenges and Capacity Building Efforts. Oslo Studies in Language (OSLa) Vol 8, No 1. 2016, edited by Binyam Sisay Mendisu and Janne Bondi Johannessen.

The book has 16 chapters altogether by 18 authors and deals with a number of important issues related to the language situation in Ethiopia. The chapters are divided across these topics: Descriptions of Grammatical Aspects of Languages, Orthography and Script, Words and Names, Standardization and Identity, Social and Political Discourse.

Given the wide range of topics and the specialised topics, reviewers had to be found at five continents, ensuring the high standard of this volume.

The book is published with open access, and is freely downloadable.

Linguistic Challenges and Capacity Building Efforts is published in the OSLa (Oslo Studies in Language).
