PhD project
In my PhD project I investigate how Plain Language experts in Norway understands Plain Language, and how we can understand the connection between Plain Language and democracy and the rule of law. The goal of my project is to develop theory on how writing texts in Plain Language can fulfill the Norwegian Plain Language promise of promoting democracy and the rule of law.
The starting point of my theoretical exploration is the concept of Rhetorical Citizenship. In short this concept views citizenship as something we do discoursively. I am exploring how Plain Language texts from the public can improve the readers ability to make informed choices and express herself relevantly and convincingly both in the public sphere and when addressing the authorities.
