Workshop 1: Traditions and the Archive
Discussing textual archives. Image: M Polvinen.
What is the role of history and literary traditions in cognitive approaches to literature? Across time, literary texts have developed different ways of engaging and enticing the human mind, its feelings and imaginative capacities. In this workshop, we investigate how cognitive literary study can profit from the long archive of literary texts from antiquity to the present day. We will also discuss how it can be related to earlier traditions of literary enquiry.
Guest: Terence Cave, University of Oxford
