This special issue explores what place the cognitive can take in literary studies today, bringing together papers from scholars across the Nordic countries that examine the cognitive, emotional and imaginative involvements of literature. The contributions address literature from across the centuries, outline the import of empirical methods, and highlight new arguments for the relevance of literature in society.
