Comparative Slavic Syntax and Semantics

This special issue in the OSLa series contains a selection of papers from a workshop organized under the auspices of the project GRAMNORUS - Grammar from a Norwegian-Russian Perspective -, a joint Norwegian-Russian collaboration project, financed by SIU and based at ILOS.

About the book

The special issue consists of four articles. The first investigates the use of aspect in Slavic infinitives and corresponding da-constructions, arguing against the hypothesis that the East-West divide in aspect use can be observed in infinitives too. The second concerns indefinite pronouns in Hittite, more specifically the syntax of negative polarity items (NPIs) in Hittite as compared with Russian. The third deals with movement out of adjunct clauses in Russian whereas the fourth is devoted to word order and accent placement in topics, foci, and markers of discourse continuity.
