Professor Trine Syvertsen works in the fields of media history, media policy, television and digital media. She is author of Media Resistance: Dislike, Protest, Abstention (Palgrave Pivot, open access) and co-author of The Media Welfare State: Nordic Media in the Digital Era (Univ of Michigan Press, 2014). She has previously published extensively on public service broadcasting - see links and publications here

She is involved in the collaborative project Media Companies and the Public Interest

Syvertsen is currently Chairwoman of the Board at Oslo Metropolitan University. She has acted as Dean (2007-14) and Dean of Research (2002-6) at the Faculty of Humanities, UiO. She holds a PhD (1992) and an MA from the University of Leicester, and a cand. polit. degree from the University of Bergen.
