Media Aesthetics invites Screen Cultures to a joint workshop focusing on Screen Cultures.
On the program:
Pasi Väliaho presents the introduction to his book project The Form of Projection: Providence, Speculation, and Optical Media circa 1700.
"The Form of Projection" explores how the optical media of camera obscuras and magic lanterns lent their shape to turn-of-the-seventeenth-and-eighteenth-century thought, becoming symbolic of a series of intellectual transitions, most notably, from a pre-established divine harmony to a complex world of contingent events open to opportunities and risks.
