Media Aesthetics invites Screen Cultures to a joint workshop focusing on Screen Cultures. 

On the program:

High Speed * Brainstorming * Screen Cultures 

 

Four Screen Cultures MA students will present materials from their ongoing Master’s thesis projects. What is interesting, striking, annoying, comical, tragic? Please join us. Materials will include Youtube videos of the Alt-Right, romantic scenes from Iranian movies, the #Munch hashtag on Instagram and ‘Covidiot’-shaming posts on Twitter.

Following Thinkers: Place, Philosophy and Architecture Explored Through Filmmaking is a two-part screening that deals with what it means to follow thinkers who came before us. Anna Ulrikke Andersen and filmmaker and film theoretician d.n. Rodowick (University of Chicago) screen a selection of films that relate to this theme. In Andersen's films, she follows Norberg-Schulz from Norway to Italy, while Rodowick explores where Plato's thinking took place. After the screening, there will be a conversation with professor of art history Ina Blom (UiO) and architect and architectural historian Ingrid Dobloug Roede (Transborder Studio/AHO). The event is produced by Julie Leding with support from Fritt Ord.

Following Thinkers: Place, Philosophy and Architecture Explored Through Filmmaking er en todelt visning som tar for seg hva det vil siå ‘follow’ (komme eller følge etter) tenkere som kom før oss, hvor Anna Ulrikke Andersen og filmskaper og filmteoretiker d.n. Rodowick (Univeristy of Chicago) viser et utvalg filmer som tar for seg tematikken. I Andersens filmer følger hun etter Norberg-Schulzfra Norge til Italia, mens Rodowick utforsker hvor Platon’s tenkning fant sted. Etter visningen vil det være samtale med professor i kunsthistorie Ina Blom (UiO) og arkitekt og arkitekturhistoriker Ingrid Dobloug Roede (Transborder Studio/AHO). Visningen er produsert av Julie Leding og støttet av Fritt Ord.
