Musikkteori, musikk-kognisjon, musikalsk analyse, musikkteknologi, satslære- og komposisjonsforskning.

Pågående og planlagte forskningsprosjekter ved IMV

Det langsiktige målet med min forskning er å gi et bedre grunnlag for en fenomenologisk musikkteori, dvs. en musikkteori som omhandler våre subjektive bilder av musikalsk lyd. Dette har blant annet resultert i en antologi om mentale bilder av musikalsk lyd, Musical Imagery, og en antologi om musikk-relaterte kroppsbevegelser, Musical Gestures.

Jeg har ledet den tverrfaglige forskergruppen fourMs med deltakelse fra Institutt for informatikk, Psykologisk institutt og Institutt for musikkvitenskap ved Universitetet i Oslo, og er for tiden medlem i det tverrfaglige senteret for fremragende forskning RITMO
