Research Areas

Hanne Gram Simonsen’s main fields of research are language acquisition (in particular the acquisition of phonology, morphology, and lexicon in a cross-linguistic and multilingual perspective), clinical linguistics (in particular language disorders in children and in adults with aphasia and Alzheimer's disease) and instrumental phonetics (in particular through the use of EPG (electropalatography), EMA (electromagnetic articulography), and ultrasound.

Appointments

Hanne Gram Simonsen was the President of ICPLA - The International Clinical Phonetics and Linguistics Association for the period 2014-2018. ICPLA aims to stimulate research in and application of linguistics and phonetics to the study of disordered speech and language.  ICPLA holds a biennial conference to allow members to meet and present research papers; the last one (ICPLA18) took place (digitally) in Glasgow, June 22-25, 2021.
