Research

I am interested in lexical processing and in children's early lexical development. My research has a cross-linguistic and multilingual perspective, and is in part motivated by the need for improvements in language assessment for clinical purposes. As a postdoctoral fellow on the project MultiLing Dementia: Language and Communication in Multilingual Speakers with Dementia in Norway, I am currently investigating lexical access in multilinguals with dementia.

In my PhD project, I asked how linguistic factors may account for the composition of monolingual and bilingual children’s lexicons. I explored monolingual CDI norms, and tested two new assessment tools designed to provide a valid assessment of bilingual children’s language skills. (Download the dissertation.)

Teaching and supervision

I have supervised MA theses within language acquisition, multilingualism, digital tools in second language teaching, the bilingual advantage and slips of the tongue during alcohol intoxication. Most of these theses have included language experiments or assessment tools. Furthermore, I have given statistics advice to MA students, PhD students and colleagues.
