Teachers at work: Applications and accommodations among teachers
About the project
In this project we observe and analyze the work of teachers in their adaption of an Oslo-program on vocabulary awareness and concept training related to textbook reading in 4th to 10th grade initiated by the Board of Education. We observe the different stages of the program, from the planning by the Board of Education, to the input course they give the teachers on concepts and textbooks, as well as the teachers’ team work preparations and discussions and work in the classrooms. In addition to observations, the methods we use are focus group conversations, interviews and text analysis.
The aim is to find out, by observing the mediation process among the teachers, how intentions from authorities, in this case a vocabulary and concept program related to reading, are received and integrated into the teachers’ practices in the classrooms.
