Abstract

Motion Capture of Music Performances: Overview of almost 2 decades of research
Marcelo M. Wanderley, McGill University

In this talk I will review several research projects involving motion capture (mocap) of music performances, starting with early collaborative experiments in Europe then, since 2001, at McGill University, Canada. These projects have relied on a variety of mocap technologies and systems and range from the quantitative comparison of multiple performer movements aiming to shed light into performance strategies to the use of mocap recordings as control data for the simulation of virtual music avatars.
