Academic interests
I am interested in understanding inferences in communication. The purpose of my work is to describe the interaction between the compositional and contextual factors that influence meaning, and how it is processed in the mind. In particular, I am interested in verbs. My research concerns three interrelated goals: a lexical one that aims to determine the extent to which verbs can be coerced by its arguments into having a scalarity property; a pragmatic one that seeks to elucidate how sensitive these verbal interpretations are to contextual input; and a psycholinguistic one that entails a contribution to the cognitive reality of the construal of verbs.
