Three guest-lectures this fall

LCE will host guest-lecturers Winfried Menninghaus, Johanna K. Kaakinen and Sibylle Baumbach in a series of lectures this fall.

Winfried Menninghaus is director of the Department of Language and Literature at the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics in Frankfurt am Main in Germany. Amongst his research interests are aesthetics and especially its philosophical, empirical (psychological) and evolutionary aspects. Menninghaus' lecture will take place 5 September 10-12h, P. Johanna K. Kaakinen is senior research fellow at the Turku Institute for Advanced Studies & Department of Psychology in Finland. She investigates the role of emotions in text comprehension by the use of eye tracking. Kaakinen's lecture will take place 11 September 10-12h, P. A Munch, seminarrom 360. Sibylle Baumbach is professor of English literature at the University of Stuttgart. She works on cognitive literary studies, the aesthetics of fascination and literary attention. This series of lectures gives an overview of the empirical and theoretical research currently being done within cognitive literary studies. For Master-students interested in cognitive and empirical approaches to literature, these lectures will provide an orientation to current research questions and methods.

The lectures are open to all.
